Before You Start That Goal Over Again

Let's be honest about the goal that's been on your list for over a year.

Let's be honest about the goal that's been on your list for over a year.

You probably haven't ignored it. You've started it. Maybe a few times. A new notebook, a fresh Monday, a good week or two. Then life got busy, it slipped, and the next time you came back to it, you started from zero.

That's the part I want to talk about.

Starting over feels like a clean slate, and honestly, it feels good. But when you start from zero every time, you throw away everything the last try taught you. So you make the same move and hit the same wall.

A lot of the time we sit in this place where we want something to be better, but we don't actually stop and look at what did or didn't work.

That's why, when I first talk with someone, one of the first things I want to know is what they've already done to try to solve the problem. Not to judge it. Those attempts are information.

Every time a goal stalls, it's telling you something. Maybe it stalled the same week every time. Maybe it stalled when work got heavy. Maybe it stalled the moment it had to fit into a day that was already full. This is an opportunity to find out why you get stuck here and brainstorm a new direction or pathway to overcome it.

It isn't proof you can't do it. Failing is not the end, it's just the beginning. Failure is a lot more useful when you're paying attention to it because of what you learn from it.

So you're not really starting over. You're starting from experience.

Here's my suggestion to you. Before you try that goal again, take ten minutes and answer this questions:

What worked? What didn't work. What can I try next? And if I don't know what to try next, who can I ask?

That's your real starting point, and it's a lot more specific than "try harder this time."

If you want a second set of eyes on what keeps getting in the way, that's what the free clarity call is for.

Your next chapter doesn’t need a perfect first day.

Bring the goal you keep thinking about. We’ll make the first step clear, small, and possible.
